My Story

Life’s Lessons Learned

Legacies of Love has been a labor of love. It was born out of a salient desire to share my life story with you with the ultimate goal that readers like you can benefit from the many lessons I’ve learned throughout this incredible journey that is my life.

My book is a collection of short stories that chronicle the many transitions I have undergone over the years and elucidate the how and why these events have propelled me towards achieving personal growth and finding my true self, many of which I hope can be relatable to readers like you.

This anthology is comprised of five sections that encompass the scope of my most valued experiences. They encompass all areas of my life, from the love of family and friends to my burgeoning spirituality and belief in a higher power; from a connection to nature and all things beautiful to the athletic achievements I have mastered over the years. The book concludes with several stories sprinkled with a touch of whimsy and humor that is sure to stir your heartstrings.

Altogether, these narratives exude an aura of positivity and demonstrate how the power of strength and perseverance plays a vital role in allowing us to succeed in obtaining our life goals.

From My Talisman

An endless piercing pain envelopes my very being. With his passing, he took with him a piece of my heart. This void is partly filled with a gold double-linked chain that sits proudly about my neck, the exact chain I gifted my son on the day of bar mitzvah. At the time, he told he loved it and vowed never to take it off. He didn’t, until the day he passed. And now this chain is for me as it was for him. It has become the conduit that binds us together in death as we were in life. It is my talisman, and it keeps our union strong.

From Married, At Last

We left the Chuppah with a deeper meaning to our Jewish existence. We inhaled our newfound unity, our souls having finally joined together as one. We fought for something that we were told was virtually impossible, and it was by the miraculous hand of G-d that made it happen. Today is the culmination of our long-desired dream and now we have taken our rightful place, as G-d intended, as husband and wife according to the law of Moses and the Jewish people.

From Saying Good-bye

The aurora of a new day is slowly approaching. I watch as the nightshade sky of pre-dawn gradually dissolves into the soft iridescence of early morning. I take a deep breath and inhale the remaining petrichor of last evening’s rain as I simultaneously see and hear the mellifluous sights and sounds of the opulent vista before my eyes. But I no longer have the luxury of delaying reality, the inevitable realization that the beauty that now embraces me will soon be gone.

From She Shoots, She Scores

The puck finally drops. The scrambling begins; hockey sticks are flying everywhere. I have control of the puck. I hear my teammates scream, “Go, White Skates, go!” I find a little niche among the players, body check those who were in my way and glide unobtrusively over toward the goal line to negotiate my shot at just the right angle, where the puck can easily glide between the goalie’s outstretched legs. “She shoots, she scores!” roars the announcer.

From That Dreaded Dentist Chair

I don’t think I’m alone in saying that most people have an overwhelming aversion to visit their dentist despite most being undoubtedly charming people. But nonetheless, sitting in the dreaded dentist chair is considered a most unpleasant experience. First, let’s consider the undoubtable searing pain, Next, we are consigned to the high-pitched ceaseless sound of the drill, and last but definitely not least is maintaining our mouths in an unnaturally “open wide” position while struggling not to drown in our own saliva!

Let’s consider the war being waged in our mouths, which, by the way, are required to remain “open wide” for excessive lengths of time while we struggle not to drown in our own saliva. Then we are forced to endure the ceaseless high-pitched drone of the unrelenting drill, and, if that is not enough, lest us not forget the searing pain that is sure to overtake us whenever the impossibly uncomfortable feeling of numbness leaves us hours later.
